On Hollowhood, “the best independent film magazine in the UK”, international film festival strategist, Dr. Rebekah Louisa Smith, is launching a YouTube series offering insights into why filmmakers should submit their unproduced screenplays to film festivals.

Dr. Rebekah Louisa Smith, award-winning film festival strategist, published author, and founder of The Film Festival Doctor, will launch a new YouTube series in January, ‘Why It’s Important To Submit Your Screenplay To Film Festivals.’ The series will consist of short episodes that focus on assisting filmmakers in understanding the advantages of submitting their screenplays to film festivals, and the ways in which festivals can assist filmmakers in networking in order to move closer to obtaining financing and beginning production on their films.

Rebekah’s work focuses on developing specific strategies for film festivals so that filmmakers can show their films to audiences all over the world. Over 1,800 awards and hundreds of festival screenings, including The Sundance, Tribeca, Palm Springs, Locarno, Cinequest, Nashville, and BFI London Film Festivals, have been achieved by her and her team’s clients.

Smith earned her Ph.D. in Film and Audience Research in Wales, and is currently establishing herself in the United States as the sole film festival strategist for Dallas.

The primary episode will highlight a meeting with Angela Ostermeier, VP of advancement and screenplay administrator for the Oscar-qualifying Cinequest Film Festival’s Screenwriting Competition. Angela and Rebekah will talk about the advantages of Cinequest, what it can offer filmmakers, and why filmmakers should submit.
